Hello.

Newport Valley Shorthorns is a breeding herd of registered cows and herd sires quietly raised on grass pasture with wintertime hay.

Calves are weaned and sold first as show calves,
as they are off the pasture. Currently we do not
shave/trim/groom etc. for sales. However, we raise them to be gentle and they are gentle around us.
Our calves have won shows for 60+ years.

We do not fatten cattle or sell fattened cattle.

We do not sell bottle calves.

We usually do not sell bred heifers or bred cows.

We occasionally sell young breeding bulls.

Calves we sell may be registered by the American Shorthorn Association. Most calves are naturally polled though occasionally a horned one is born.

The herd was bred to be very calm and gentle -- around calm and gentle people. Typically, our visitors are one or two adults. Or maybe a 4-H youth with a parent or two.

We do not offer tours of our herd and do not accommodate school/group/large family/little children etc. visits.

Any visits to our Newport Valley farm must be arranged ahead of time. Because of chores and other responsibilities, we are usually not able to spend time with unplanned company.
